Howick Lions Club has been an important part of the Howick community for over 50 years, and have always looked for innovative ways to raise funds for the benefit of those less fortunate in our local area. Howick Lions recently undertook a 'Community Needs Assessment' through Facebook and Neighbourly to ask how they could best serve our local community. The response was that 'Hunger' and 'Environment' were the two issues that concerned local residents the most. With this feedback in mind, the Club then looked for ways to address the wants and needs of our local people. Selling reusable beeswax foodwraps seemed to be the perfect answer and Honeywraps have been the ideal partner.

Beeswax foodwraps are a reusable alternative to plastic wraps and are made from all natural ingredients. Beeswax, tree resin and jojoba are infused with organic cotton to produce a reusable tacky cloth which can be shaped around food and dishes to seal in goodness. By firmly pressing the beeswax wrap around your food or bowl the warmth of your hands activates the mixture and the cloth will stick to itself. The cloth allows your food to breathe and therefore last longer. Packaging is kept to a minimum to reduce waste and all steps of Honeywrap's manufacturing process are completed in a way to reduce any unnecessary waste and follow the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Using one wrap every day for a year saves the equivalent of 75 metres of plastic wrap going into landfill or our oceans. The wraps are designed in collaboration with local New Zealand artists to reflect our beautiful country and our fabulous natural environment.

The wraps can be ordered online via the Howick Lions Club website, and all profits will be used to fund the Club's youth and hunger initiatives. Good for the environment and great for the community!
