Howick Lions Club is looking for new members to help establish a Howick Lions Branch Club.
Howick Lions Club is more than 50 years old and although our traditional club structure works for our current members, we understand that it doesn't suit everyone. Many of us now find work and family commitments are taking up more and more of our time and we are having to choose between these and serving the community. Also, we believe there are many people who would like to organise activities that would benefit the new communities in Flat Bush, Botany and East Tamaki, but would prefer not to travel to Howick for traditional meetings.
So in order to broaden the appeal of our club, we want to establish a 'Howick Lions Branch Club' for people who want to help our local communities, but would prefer to organise activities online and have a greater degree of flexibility. As a member of our Branch Club you would also be a full member of Howick Lions Club, but you would be able to set your own programme and organise your own fund-raising and service projects, while benefiting from the support, legal and financial structure of our traditional parent club.
We envisage that members of our Branch Club would organise their activities online to eliminate the need to travel to attend meetings. Members can even be in different cities and still participate in discussions. Members would then meet face to face to carry out community projects.
