Greetings all.
Well another month is closing and it seems like yesterday I was writing my March report. (Is it just me or are the weeks speeding up? Perhaps this is an age thing and our minds travel quicker!). VP Colin is making progress after his accident. He has had a few days at their Coromandel retreat; now back in Auckland and making progress. We wish him a speedy recovery.
A good day at the Botany Downs sausage sizzle. Over 200 sold. We have a new Chief Sausage Cooker in Sylvia Duan. This young lady has become involved with Howick Lions projects and is rolling up her sleeves for the cause – well done; let’s hope she becomes another new member. We look forward to Eddie officially joining Howick Lions at our dinner meeting on Wednesday.
Point View School will, I’m sure, be very pleased with the cheque for $1350.00 which is a result of the Hot Chips cooking we did for their recent gala. Howick Coastguard will likewise be happy with the cheque for $800 towards their much-needed funds, which is the profit from our recent Water Safety Picnic.
At our last business meeting we voted the new Team in for the 2017-2018 year. I am sure they will meet all the challenges before them and steer Howick Lions to a successful year under the guiding hand of President Elect Colin Salt. It is up to the rest of the Howick members to get behind them and make the task that much easier.
I look forward to our next dinner meeting and hope we get a good turnout for some more Howick Lions fun and repartee.
President Grant
