Greetings fellow members

Thank you to all members who helped out at the Water Safety Picnic; we couldn't have done it without you. It was a very laid-back sort of a day; not too stretched. Good event for showing our presence and support to the local community. We had good feedback from the Scout organisers about how well it went. Well done Rex for doing the majority of the background work on this project. The Scouts seemed very well organised this year; it's always good to see people out enjoying themselves as a family. The weather was perfect. Shame the Howick Radio lost its power. They might need their own generator next year, just to be safe. Thanks to Denis for bringing his "Bazooka" music to liven up our gazebo.

Our big three club events are over for the year, but don't let that stop us from thinking up new ideas. There are other activities like Howick Historical Village painting, assistance with our new Leos Club, the Pestfree programme and our regular fundraising Sausage Sizzles coming up.

Initial nominations for club officers have been put forward for key positions next year. You all still have time to put your hands up. Think about how you would like to do your bit for the next Lions year. We are still looking for a Treasurer; training will be given. Feel free to put forward you name for nomination. As I said last month, you only get as much out, as you put in to Lions.

Thought for the month: “Opportunities don’t come knocking on the door. They present themselves when you knock the (expletive deleted) door down.” – Greg Plitt

That’s all for now
